Travellers once went in search of a place of enlightenment, seeking the secrets of life. They’d heard a tale describing a mystical place of the heavens that were divided into thirteen levels. Before gaining entrance, they were approached by nine gods, each linked to these skies, and each proposing a singular experience the travellers must fully immerse themselves in before passing on to the next. “Kinich Ahau, god of sun; Itzamna, chief ruler; Hun-Hunahpu, god of maize; Chac, god of rains…” the travellers began, addressing each of the nine in turn. “We accept your invitation so we might uncover the wisdom we seek.”
